Hello I have an issue that I am in desperate need of help with. I'm trying to find some information on the ecu for a 2001 stratus for a friend. His wifes ecu died in her car and he's wanting to know if it can be replaced by a junkyard ecu or does he have to go buy one from a dealership? A guy he knows told him that the ecu's are programed to work with that vin number only. So my other question is if this is the case then what would he need from a donor car to be able to use the ecu? What tells the ecu that this is the specific vehicle that it's programed for? Is it the odometer, a module or what? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

The car is painted a custom sky blue color. It has a BW3 hood scoop installed and painted. The back seats have been stripped in preparation for a roll bar and nitrous set up. The back interior has been painted where I stripped the seats. The car has 18" chrome verde scorpion rims. The calipers, suspension, and wheel wells have also been painted. The car also comes with 2 12" Kenwood subwoofers, a Memphis amp, a PowerBass amp, a 1.2 farat capacitor, MB Quart component speakers, and an Alpine head unit wired for ipod hookup. I put in H.I.D. headlights, 8000K. The new engine only has 7,000 miles on it. The car is loaded in every way imaginable, and it runs like a dream. It has been taken care off extremely well. I am the only owner of it. It has a clean title. Make me an offer. Thanks.

Right now, I plan on getting valve springs, connecting rods, a fuel pump, fuel injectors, and performance head gaskets. Any other suggestions? And also, I'm having a hard time finding any of the above parts online for the 2003 eclipse engine. Any suggestions on where I could find some quality parts? Thanks for any help.
